What Cardpile does
One job, done well: help you remember what you study. Cardpile brings your own material across, pairs the modern spaced-repetition algorithm with a clean review loop, keeps your data in your own files and drafts editable cards on the device. Studying is free; the authoring tools are bought once, without a subscription.
Check the answers you felt sure about
Type answers to up to ten cards and choose your confidence before revealing the saved answer. Assess correctness yourself and retry mistakes, with confidently wrong answers first. Results describe this sample; your FSRS schedule stays intact.

FSRS-6 estimates the next review from your previous answers. The schedule adapts as you study.

Import your Anki decks
Anki packages (.apkg and .colpkg, older and current exports) arrive with formatting, tags, subdecks, images, audio and cloze cards. Keep your Anki progress or start fresh. Importing the same deck again updates what changed and keeps your own edits. CSV, TSV and pasted two-column lists show the real cards before anything is saved.
Draft cards from short notes
Paste notes, or choose pages from a PDF or a photo. Draft cards with Apple Intelligence or Gemini Nano on supported devices, with a rules-based helper elsewhere. The screen names the source; your notes stay on the device. Review every draft; five kept drafts a day are free, and Pro has no daily limit.
Your decks, on your own device
Make decks, add and edit cards, browse and search, the everyday work stays fast and simple. Everything lives on your phone. On iPhone you can turn sync on as well, and your decks are then kept in your own iCloud (CloudKit) so they follow you across your devices; the Android app keeps them on the phone and has no sync. Either way there’s no account of ours, and nothing of yours sits on a server we can read.

Free, with no card or deck cap and no time limit: study, the self-check, import, export, backup and five generated cards a day. Pro costs €12.99 once and adds images, audio, cloze and image occlusion, cards from PDFs and photos, a saved mistake list, goal dates and bulk editing. Everyone who bought Cardpile has Pro. Family Sharing is included on iOS.
Your data, in your own files
One backup file holds every deck, card, image and recording and restores on iPhone, iPad or Android; restoring only adds what is missing. Export to Anki, or export card text as CSV. All of it is free.
A picture for every deck
Each deck shows an illustration beside its name, chosen from the name (Spanish, biology, driving theory and twenty more) or picked by you in the deck’s settings. The illustrations are generated and marked as such.
